The Parsonage Muchelney

The  Parsonage is a traditional Somerset long house, set in the tranquil village of Muchelney, miraculously untouched and unspoilt by the passage of time.

For travelers and tourists
It offers a relaxing and comfortable stopover for the traveler to or from Cornwall and also makes a perfect base
for exploring the delights of Somerset and the West Country - not to mention local events, some of which are usually listed at the bottom of this page. Muchelney is within easy reach of Langport, Somerton, Podimore, Yeovil and Taunton

Forget the hustle and bustle of the world outside as you step into the classic interior of this welcoming home with its Blue Lias flagstones, fine family furniture, winter log fires in the large inglenook fireplace and original bread ovens.

Warm, comfortable and reassuringly cosy, guests are treated to sumptuous dinners in the formal dining room and don't have to be asked twice to relax in the delightfully furnished guest rooms ...

... we have two well appointed en suite doubles and a twin; all the newly equipped bathrooms boast power showers and baths.

A large fig tree draping itself over a water feature and a fragrant rose arbour grace the beautifully laid-out garden. Seasonal fresh figs are served for breakfast, eaten al fresco in warm weather.

Your hosts: David and Valerie Griffin

David has traveled extensively in business and he and Valerie thoroughly enjoy looking after their guests. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure you feel relaxed and at home.

Valerie, Cordon Bleu trained, cooks fresh, organic meals wherever possible and also takes advantage of produce from the Smokery at Hambridge among other local sources.

Where are we...

Set in the middle of the Somerset Levels, the beautiful surrounding moorland includes a wealth of stately homes and gardens as well as Muchelney Abbey and the church with its uniquely painted ceiling. The famous John Leach Pottery and a cider-making farm and distillery are nearby. The Parsonage also makes the perfect stopover en route to Devon and Cornwall.
